Toddler Time; Start with Art (Ages 2-3)

Wednesday-Friday, 10:00-10:30

June 25- June 27 (3 classes)

Members: $30          Non-members: $35

 

You'll enjoy painting, sculpting and using mixed media with your child.  This class will introduce your toddler to art concepts and a variety of fun media. Parents and children explore art from the developmental point of view of two and three year olds.


Toddler Time; Shine, Sparkle, Sprinkle (Ages 2-3)
Friday, 10:00-10:30 am

Students use sand, glitter and sequins to embellish their paintings.  We'll explore underwater themes, while also looking at the kinds of animal life that live in the sea.

 

   

   

Toddler Time; Play with Clay (Ages 2-3)

Children will have fun experimenting with snaky coils of clay, and slab and pinch techniques. Parents and children explore art from the developmental point of view of two and three year olds.


PRE K-K (4-5 yrs.)

 

In The Garden (4-5 yrs.)

Children will explore the process of printing and stamping to create their own special garden. Students make a painting of a garden and then utilize stamps to add plants and bugs.


 

   

   

Red, White, and Blue Art (4-5 yrs.)

Children will explore the colors of the American Flag. We'll incorporate stars and stripes out of various materials to create a patriotic windsock or banner. Happy Independence Day!


Preschool Picasso (4-5 yrs.)

Tuesday-Thursday, 10:00-10:45 am

Students paint utilizing techniques and methods from master painters. We'll dot and dab like George Seurat and Claude Monet; we'll splatter and spill like Jackson Pollock.
   

   

Lets Fly (4-5 yrs.)

Tuesday -Thursday, 10:00-10:45 am

August 19 - August 21 (3 classes)

What kinds of things fly?  We'll explore birds, bats, kites and planes.  Students will enjoy the mixing of art materials with functional, fun kites.  Spread your wings and soar with us.

Tile Making (6-12 yrs.)

Tuesdays;     June 17, 24

Session I:      9:00-9:50 am (2 classes)

Master potter, Rich Agness, will guide children through the exciting process of clay tile making. Children will make two tiles during the first session. These tiles are colorfully glazed during the second class. One of the tiles will be permanently installed at Appleton Art Center, where friends and family and visitors can enjoy the display for years to come. There will be a small reception for students, families, and friends Tuesday July 8th at 7:00pm to view your recently installed art. The second tile is for your collection! The class fee includes all materials and instruction. Class sizes are limited due to space considerations, so sign up now! Students will need to choose a session. Each session is two days long, as indicated. Note: Rich needs adult volunteers during class time. Please let us know if you'd like to help.
   

   

EARLY ELEMENTARY (5-7 yrs.)

Students will be introduced to mixed media techniques of combining printing processes with painting. Instructor, Ben Geyer, will demonstrate different styles and design ideas to incorporate into your own piece of art.

 


Fun with Clay (5-7 yrs.)
Mondays and Fridays, 1:30-2:30 pm
August 4, 8, 11, 15   (4 classes)

We'll make sculptural and functional art, utilizing modeling dough and clay. Slab and pinch techniques are explored. Pieces are glazed and kiln-fired.

   

   

Flower Pottery (5-7 yrs.)
Friday, 9:00-10:30 am

Students explore painting and mixed media, utilizing flowerpots, sculpture, wire and beads.  We'll add animal and bug themes, making a colorful home for flowers.

 


LATE ELEMENTARY (8-12 yrs.)

More Fun with Clay (8-12 yrs.)

Kids love to create with clay.  Students will slab, coil, pinch and sculpt their way to functional and decorative pieces of art.  They will also use under-glazes to color the clay and they will give it a shine with a glossy finish. 


 

   

   

More Fun with B&W Photography (8-12 yrs.)
Monday-Thursday, 10:00-11:15 am
July 28-31   (4 classes)
Members: $45  Non-members: $52

In this class, we will discuss the basics of photography such as composition, lighting, subject matter, cropping, matting, etc.  Each student will be given a disposable camera and will experiment with black and white photography in order to get the best picture.  At the end of this course, each student will have a wonderful portfolio of unique works of art and a new way of viewing the world – through the lens of a camera!  Limit: 10 students.

Art Accessories (8-12 yrs.)
Tuesdays, 11:00 am-2:00 pm
August 5 (1 class)
Members: $30  Non-members: $35

Students utilize polymer clay and beads to create jewelry.  We'll explore designs for pins and bracelets.  Students also design a jewelry box to protect their collection.  Students should bring a bag lunch. 


Animal Sculpture (8-12 yrs.)
Monday through Thursday, 1:00-2:30 pm
August 11 - 14 (4 classes)
Members: $45   Non-members: $52

Students choose from a variety of animals to sculpt from plaster.  We build our sculptures from paper, add plaster craft bandages, and use colorful paints to embellish them. 

   

   

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (12-18 yrs.)

Discover what happens when two or more artists work as a team to produce a single printed work in a variety of print mediums.

 

   

   

Jewelry Making (12-18 yrs.)
Wednesday, 11:00-2:00 pm

Members: $40  Non-Members: $45

Students utilize wood, glass and acrylic beads to create their own line of jewelry. We'll explore different techniques in making coordinating earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Students will also design a jewelry box to hold their stylish creations. Students should bring a bagged lunch.
